Department History

The Department of International Business at National Dong Hwa University was established in 1996 (the 85th year of the Republic of China). It first launched a Master’s Program in International Business. In the 2003 academic year, the undergraduate program was introduced, and the department was officially renamed as the Department of International Business. In 2006, an Executive Master’s Program was added, followed by the establishment of a Ph.D. Program in International Business under the Ph.D. Program in Business Administration in 2007. Additionally, the department has offered continuing education credit courses in both Hualien and Banqiao.

Department Mission

Guided by the mission of both the university and the college, the Department of International Business aims to cultivate management professionals equipped with knowledge of international business, innovative thinking, entrepreneurial skills, service industry management capabilities, and a locally rooted business mindset.

Our educational objectives are translated into specific core competencies that students are expected to develop. These competencies are tightly integrated with curriculum design to ensure that graduates possess the professional abilities required by industry and are well-prepared to contribute to the nation and society.

To ensure effective learning outcomes, the department emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, offering students a wide range of on-campus and off-campus learning resources. A comprehensive support system is in place to guide students before, during, and after their learning journey.

Beyond academics, the department also places strong emphasis on student life counseling. A variety of support mechanisms are available to help students resolve personal and daily life challenges. Furthermore, we actively support students in career planning by helping them understand their academic goals and prepare for their post-graduation career paths.
